Trainings We Offer

75hr. Home Care Aide (HCA) Training

10 Equivalent days of mandatory classroom training that includes 43-Hour Core Basic Training, Orientation & Safety, Mental Health Specialty Training, Dementia Specialty Training and two days of Skills training.

Core Basic Training

A DSHS curriculum required to meet basic training for anyone providing care services to Medicaid clients. Core Basic Training (CBT) is a highly interactive 42-hour classroom course and students are required to participate actively in discussions and hands-on. This course covers how to correctly and efficiently perform basic personal care tasks, understand client rights, realize the importance of communication to solve problems, and learn how to protect and promote the health of clients.

Orientation & Safety (ORSA)

The Orientation Training gives the students an overview of what they need to know and do in their job. The Job Etiquette, an hour class, is an adjunct to this course to give students a competitive edge in the hiring process.

Nurse Delegation

We offer Nurse Delegation and Nurse Delegation with Focus on Diabetes. The Nurse Delegation Program, under Washington State law, allows nursing assistants working in certain settings to perform certain tasks, such as: administer prescription medications or blood glucose testing, which are normally performed by licensed nurses. We have a registered nurse that teaches the courses.

12hr. Continuing Education on Birthday

CPR / First Aid

As a caregiver, it is your duty to respond to cardiac or breathing emergencies until more advanced medical personnel can take over. From assessing needs and making decisions to provide care, this course teaches the basic life support skills through video and discussion.

AFH Food Handling Continuing Education
